Yes, yes, yes! It is Thanksgiving

It must be Thanksgiving! Here's how I know: Time spent with very best friends and their families; standing together, holding hands as we say prayers of gratitude; tons of food consumed and beverages drunk; fun time spent in the sunshine enjoying a glorious record warm day; hundreds of photographs taken for sharing memories; sounds of football games coming from the TV in the living room where some of the guys were gathered; children playing all over the place.

And one more thing. The thing that PROVES this is Thanksgiving in Oklahoma: I just saw the B.C. Clark Jewelers anniversary sale commercial during the 10 p.m. news.

I've posted about this in previous years; it still brings me a moment of comfort waiting for that first airing each year.

This happens to be the 50th anniversary of the jingle, and since we're now just a year away from the state's centennial, here's one version of the jingle for you. This is the bouncing ball jingle:
Bouncing Ball

For other versions, you can check out Other jingles.

Enjoy!

I love Thanksgiving too. It is
great, family, football, and
food. My favorite memories. Before I was summond to the kitchen. When live was still
simple.

My Thanksgiving was football with
my pop. We yelled, jumped, and
just plain loved it.

For the first time ever, we didn't spend Thanksgiving at my parents' home (the usual) or at one of my siblings'. Instead, we went to my aunt's in Tulsa, where there was an abundance of food and fellowship. A cousin had his three children there and a brother-in-law of my older brother had one of his three children there. I took my Labrador puppy along. After dinner and before dessert many of us took a long walk around a trail. Afterwards we went to my older brother's house and watched the Denver Broncos play, as my sister-in-law is originally from Colorado.

Just the week before, several in the family spent a weekend in Eureka Springs.

For Christmas, my Dad and I are flying out to California to spend time with his older sister.

A belated Happy Thanksgiving!

I thought about you, J.T.! It sounds like a great gathering. New PUPPY!!! I want to see photos!

Were you able to go to Eureka Springs? Now you've planted a seed -- when I can scrape together enough pennies I may have to make a weekend trip there myself. I haven't been there for 25 years or so, I'd have to say, and I love it.

I'm so happy to read about your Christmas plans, too. And happy Thanksgiving to you!

Gotta be in the Oklahoma City media market to know that tune! I've known it since 1984 when, in Stillwater, I first got OKC TV and radio. I was ignurnt of the B.C. Clark phenom for the first 20 years of my eastern Oklahoma-Arkansas-and-Tulsa-media-market existence!

There, there E.R. -- once you left home you became a full-blooded Okie. Next year we'll show you the state handshake on Centennial Day!
