A weird sighting

I was washing the dishes this afternoon and lazily looking out the window when something caught my eye, about a foot above the ground. Something hovering there that I could not make sense of. I stared for quite a while to see if it would move on, and it didn't. It stayed in about the same spot, just hanging there.

I put on my favorite ugly slippers and went outside to see if it responded to me being near it, and discovered it was a dried up leaf, hanging stem-down in the air. There was no wind, but I believe gravity must still be working, everywhere but in that spot, apparently.

There is nothing above it -- no tree limbs or power lines above that spot. I could't see any natural reason for this leaf to be hanging there like this. I still haven't figured it out. But here's a photo or two, just so you can see my floating leaf for yourself.

HAS to be a spider silk somewhere. Laws of physics and gravity and all that.

I know you have to be right, but I sure didn't find it when I went out there. Later it was about 5 feet above the ground in the same spot and spinning!

So as an investigative reporter, did you pass an object all around it in a spherical manner?
Great pictures.
Took them up to 1600X.
If there is a silk thread etc. It is smaller than the pixels could reveal.

If you do the 360 spherical test thing and it is still "hanging" there. Sell your home and move to Texas.

Alas, the floating leaf was gone this morning when I ran to the window to check. I'm sure, as Sarabeth said, there had to be some sort of hard-to-see spider silk or something like that causing the mystery. I sure never felt anything though. And I never did get a Holy Message from it.

That's too bad that it went away, you could have charged admission. ;)

While you had your camera in hand, why didn't you take a pic of the house?? :) :) :)

Trixie capture the first definitive evidence that space aliens travel to earth via dried up leaves and the stressedcatlady wants a picture of the house.

The reason she doesn't do the house is that she's afraid some of us local boys may do a drive by shooting.

I've always had the feeling that drloco didn't like me. ;)

Trixie, you do know I'm just ribbing you, don't you?? :)

Of course! I actually have a photo here somewhere which explains why there have been no other photos of the house yet... hold on...

FF I like everybody. Well not everybody.
But the fact that there is a tuxedo cat laying on top of my key board as I attempt to type this might make us copacetic.

See his picture at:

But this one, she is my soul mate (but don't tell my wife):
