Happy Statehood Day!

To all my fellow Oklahomans, Happy Statehood Day!

On this date in 1907, Oklahoma became the 46th state to enter the union. Just two more years until the centennial celebration of our great state!

You're doin' fine, Oklahoma!

Thanks, Trixie! I didn't remember that. I should be ashamed, but I'm not a big Oklahoma history buff. Don't tell ER. I think a lot of history is boring. I know, I know. I said I should be ashamed!

Saw Oklahoma! over the weekend. My niece is the vocal-music instructor back in the western Kansas hometown and directs the annual musical.

This year, it was Oklahoma!.

I've lived in the Cowboy State (instead of the other word for it, because I don't like OU at all) eight years, and I'm happy to say the musical does it justice. Even high schoolers attempting to dance and sing do it justice.

"The land we belong to is grand ..."

Of course, I hail from the Wildcat State, and we're still in mournin' today.

when I started school (many
moons ago) I was on child in
school that spoke English.
The rest spoke Cherokee. I
